Taxonomy
Notopocorystes dichrous was named by Stenzel (1945). It is the type species of Ferroranina.

It was recombined as Cretacoranina dichrous by Vega et al. (2007) and Schweitzer et al. (2010); it was recombined as Ferroranina dichrous by van Bakel et al. (2012), Karasawa et al. (2014), Franţescu et al. (2016), Luque et al. (2017) and Schweitzer et al. (2018).
