Taxonomy
Myliobates jugosus was named by Leidy (1876).

It was recombined as Myliobatis jugosus by Hay (1902), Leriche (1942), Dartevelle and Casier (1943), Rapp (1946), Cappetta (1987); it was recombined as Leidybatis jugosus by Dutheil and Merle (1992), Cappetta and Case (2016), Ebersole et al. (2019).
