Elektrocarcinus pierrensis

Taxonomy
Campylostoma pierrense was named by Rathbun (1917). Its type specimen is USNM 32057, a carapace, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Eastern Corson County, which is in a Maastrichtian marine shale in the Pierre Shale Formation of South Dakota. It is the type species of Elektrocarcinus.

It was recombined as Necrocarcinus pierrensis by Rathbun (1935), Schweitzer et al. (2010) and Karasawa et al. (2014); it was recombined as Cenomanocarcinus pierrensis by van Bakel et al. (2012); it was recombined as Elektrocarcinus pierrensis by Schweitzer et al. (2016), Franţescu et al. (2016) and Schweitzer et al. (2018).
