Taxonomy
Necrocarcinus texensis was named by Rathbun (1935). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 2 mi N of Denison, 1/2 mi E of Denton clay/Kde type locality..., which is in an Albian marine claystone in the Denton Formation of Texas.
It was recombined as Elektrocarcinus texensis by Schweitzer et al. (2016) and Franţescu et al. (2016).
