Taxonomy

Gelastops was named by Simpson (1935). It is not extant. Its type is Gelastops parcus.

It was assigned to Didelphodontinae by Van Valen (1967); and to Cimolestidae by Simpson (1935), McKenna and Bell (1997), Lopatin (2006), Burger (2007).

G. joni, G. parcus (syn. Emperodon acmeodontoides) (type species)

Synonyms

Emperodon was named by Simpson (1935). Its type is Emperodon acmeodontoides.

It was synonymized subjectively with Gelastops by Simpson (1937), Gazin (1949), Van Valen (1966), Van Valen (1967), Wilson (1985), Lopatin (2006).
