Taxonomy
Spirifer paucicostulata was named by Reed (1925) [Spirifer fasciger var. paucicostulata].

It was recombined as Neospirifer paucicostulatus by Termier et al. (1974); it was recombined as Trigonotreta paucicostulata by Angiolini (1995); it was recombined as Koenigoria paucicostulata by Waterhouse (2004).
