Netastoma squiresi
Taxonomy
Netastoma squiresi was named by Kennedy (1993). Its type specimen is LACMIP 8405, a valve, and it is a mold. Its type locality is CSUN Loc. 967, Santa Susana Mountains, which is in a Ypresian offshore sandstone in the Santa Susana Formation of California.

G. L. Kennedy 1993 | Shell average-sized for genus, reaching 12 mm in length and 8 mm in height in juvenile stage, anterior and disc-posterior slopes about equally developed. Anterior slope sculptured by sharp, well-defined concentric ridges and prom- inently intersecting radial ribs forming pointed projections; ra- dial ribs absent close to umbonal-ventral sulcus; concentric ridg- es pass through umbonal-ventral sulcus as sharp, well-defined ridges and continue posteriorly onto the disc at about a 90° angle with sulcus. Umbonal reflection flaring, not overturned (but missing over umbo on holotype), smooth, lacking continuation of concentric sculpture of anterior slope. |
