Taxonomy
Pecten (Propeamusium) cowperi was named by Waring (1917). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chico area in Bell's Canyon north of Simi fault (Locality 2 of Waring 1917), which is in a Campanian marine mudstone in the Chatsworth Formation of California.
It was recombined as Propeamussium (Parvamussium) cowperi by Sundberg (1989).
