Taxonomy
Oligoscalops was named by Reed (1961). It is not extant. Its type is Oligoscalops whitmanensis.

It was assigned to Proscalopinae by Van Valen (1967); and to Proscalopidae by Reed (1961), Barnosky (1981), Carroll (1988), Gunnell et al. (2008), Korth et al. (2022).
