Pronipantex planus was named by Kesling and Chilman (1978) [Types: Holotype, complete carapace, UMMP 61811; paratypes: UMMP 59033, 59382, 59526, 61810]. It is not extant. Its type specimen is UMMP 61811, a carapace.
