Leperditia punctulifera was named by Kesling and Chilman (1978) [Illustrated specimens: UMMP 59247, 59250, 59254-63, 61826, 61828]. It is the type species of Ponderodictya, Hamiltonella.
It was recombined as Hamiltonella punctulifera by Stewart (1936); it was recombined as Ponderodictya punctulifera by Coryell and Malkin (1936), Kesling and Chilman (1978).
