Cylostrobus was named by Helby and Martin (1965). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type is Araucarites sydneyensis.

It was assigned to Lycopodophyta by Andrews (1970); and to Plantae by Cantrill and Webb (1998).
