Oedolius was named by Russell and Dashzeveg (1986). It is not extant. Its type is Oedolius perexiguus.
It was assigned to Nyctitheriidae by Carroll (1988); and to Asionyctiinae by Missiaen and Smith (2005), Lopatin (2006).
