Diagnosis
ReferenceDiagnosis
U. S. Grant, IV and H. R. Gale 1931This large, heavy-shelled species is characterized by the oblique axial riblets, which
consist of closely spaced, sometimes irregular, superficial folds on the surface of the shell. The interspaces between these riblets are often lighter colored, giving a striped effect. However, this sculpture varies from strong to nearly obsolete and the riblets are sometimes granulose.
A. Alf 2019Shells 20–40 mm, solid, apex normally eroded, surface sculptured with faint spiral striations, fine growth lines; dull gray to greenish brown marked with diagonal stripes of white, sometimes interrupted; imperforate, umbilical callus broad, white; columella with two denticles.
