Taxonomy
Proetus hesione was named by Hall (1861). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Schoharie grit - Schoharie NY, which is in an Emsian marine siliciclastic in the Schoharie Grit Formation of New York.
It was recombined as Basidechenella hesionea by Lieberman (1994).
