Taxonomy
Dissopsalis was named by Pilgrim (1910). It is not extant. It is the type genus of Dissopsalini.
It was assigned to Proviverrinae by Savage (1965); to Hyaenodontinae by Van Valen (1967); to Hyaenodontidae by McKenna and Bell (1997); to Hyainailourinae by Peigné et al. (2007); to Teratodontinae by Solé et al. (2014); to Dissopsalini by Morales and Pickford (2017); and to Teratodontinae by Borths and Stevens (2017).
