Taxonomy
Docoderma was named by Finks (1960) [Sepkoski's age data: C Mosc P Guad-u Sepkoski's reference number: 203,1066]. Its type is Docoderma rigida. It is the type genus of Docodermatidae.

It was assigned to Reticulosa by Sepkoski (2002); and to Docodermatidae by Finks et al. (2004).
