Taxonomy
Cosmonotus eocaenicus was named by Beschin et al. (1988). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cava Main di Arzignano, which is in a Lutetian carbonate limestone in Italy.
It was recombined as Raniliformis eocaenica by De Angeli and Beschin (2007) and Schweitzer et al. (2010).
