Rhodea was named by Presl (1838). It is not extant. Its type is Sphenopteris trichomanoides.
It was assigned to Sphenopteridae by Andrews (1970); to Pteridophyta by Lakhanpal et al. (1976); and to Pteropsida by Chandra and Tewari (1991).
