Taxonomy

Arca minuta was named by Müller (1776) [DISTRIBUTION: Pleistocene-Recent; Western Atlantic.]. It is extant. Its type locality is Col Rodella, Campitello (Muschelkalk Fm.), which is in an Anisian carbonate limestone in Italy.

It was recombined as Leda minuta by Müller (1776); it was recombined as Nuculana minuta by Richards (1962); it was recombined as Nuculana (Nuculana) minuta by Moore (1983), Hendy (2020), Hendy (2021).

Synonyms

Leda minuta praecursor was named by Arnold (1903). It is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Nuculana minuta praecursor by Grant and IV and Gale (1931); it was recombined as Nuculana praecursor by Schenck (1945); it was recombined as Nuculana (Nuculana) minuta praecursor by Moore (1983); it was synonymized subjectively with Nuculana (Nuculana) minuta by Hendy (2021).
