Taxonomy

Pipestoneomys was named by Donohoe (1956). It is not extant. Its type is Pipestoneomys bisulcatus.

It was assigned to Protrogomorpha by Donohoe (1956), McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Pipestoneomyidae by Korth and Emry (2013), Korth et al. (2022).
