Manitsha was named by Simpson (1941). It is not extant. Its type is Manitsha tanka.

It was assigned to Paramyinae by Simpson (1941); to Ischyromyidae by McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Manitshini by Simpson (1941) and Dunn and Rasmussen (2007).
