Taxonomy
Turris elsmerensis was named by English (1914). Its type specimen is UCMP 11917 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP loc. 1601, Elsmere Canyon, which is in a Pliocene marine sandstone in the Pico Formation of California.
