Cretodus houghtonorum
Taxonomy
Cretodus houghtonorum was named by Shimada and Everhart (2019). Its type specimen is FHSM VP-17575, a partial skeleton (disarticulated partial skeleton consisting of at least 134 teeth, 61 vertebrae, and 23 placoid scales), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tipton, near, which is in a Turonian offshore shale in the Carlile Shale Formation of Kansas.
