Taxonomy
Iridina oblonga was named by Jones (1890). It is a mold. Its type locality is Maramura, by Karonga, which is in a Wuchiapingian fluvial-lacustrine shale in the Chiweta Formation of Malawi.
It was recombined as Palaeomutela oblonga by Newton (1910).
