Taxonomy
Uriscus was named by Wood (1962). It is not extant. Its type is Uriscus californicus.

It was synonymized subjectively with Reithroparamys by Black (1971), Black and Sutton (1984).

It was assigned to Reithroparamyidae by Wood (1962), Wood (1974), Korth (1994), Emry and Korth (1996), McKenna and Bell (1997).
