Taxonomy
Palaeomutela australis was named by Guerrini et al. (2020). Its type specimen is DZP-20180, a valve (left valve), and it is a mold. Its type locality is Outcrop 3, Paulo Frontin, which is in a Capitanian/Wuchiapingian lacustrine - large siliciclastic in the Rio do Rasto Formation of Brazil.
