R. Lavocat 1973Cricétodontes de grande taille, à région infra-orbitaire d'allure assez primitive, à orifice vaste. Les orifices palatins antérieurs sont longs, sans arriver pourtant comme dans Protarsomys
au niveau du bord antérieur de M1. Les caractères généraux des dents rapprochent celles-cides formes européennes plutôt oligocènes que miocènes. Ellles sont assezvoisines morphologiquement de Eucricetodon, mais de grande taille. De E. collatus elles se distinguent par leurs proportions un peu plus allongées, par les caractères du prélobe tant supérieur qu'inférieur, la faiblesseou le
manque fréquent de netteté du mésolophe. On observe également des différences au premier lobe. Le prélobe les distingue d'autre part des dents de Protarsomys, d'ailleurs de très petite taille.
