It was assigned to Lemnina by Gray (1825); to Microtinae by Kurten and Anderson (1980); to Cricetidae by Link (1795), McKenna and Bell (1997); to Arvicolinae by Seymour (2004); and to Lemmini by Galewski et al. (2006).
