Chondroteuthididae was named by Jeletzky (1965). It is not extant. Its type is Chondroteuthis.
It was synonymized subjectively with Belemnotheutidae by Doyle and Shakides (2004); it was corrected as Chondroteuthidae by Fuchs (2019).
It was assigned to Belemnitina by Jeletzky (1966); and to Diplobelida by Fuchs (2019).
