Tamquammys was named by Shevyreva (1971). It is not extant. Its type is Tamquammys tantillus.
It was assigned to Cocomyinae by Dashzeveg (1990); to Tamquammyidae by Averianov (1996); to Tamquammyinae by Tong (1997); to Ctenodactylidae by McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Ctenodactyloidea by Li and Meng (2015).
