Taxonomy
Suevosciurus was named by Dehm (1937). It is not extant. Its type is Suevosciurus fraasi.

It was assigned to Pseudosciuridae by Hooker (1986); to Theridomyidae by McKenna and Bell (1997); and to Pseudosciurinae by Astibia et al. (2000).
