Taxonomy
Cinclodes major was named by Tonni (1977). Its type specimen is MMP 161 S, a partial skeleton, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mar del Plata (Ensenadan), which is in an Ensenadan terrestrial horizon in the Miramar Formation of Argentina.
