Taxonomy
Cryptomya washingtoniana was named by Weaver (1912). Its type specimen is CAS 505, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UW 68, which is in a Miocene marine conglomerate in Washington.
It was synonymized subjectively with Cryptomya californica by Grant and IV and Gale (1931).
