Taxonomy
Corbula (Varicorbula) capayana was named by Vokes (1939). Its type specimen is UCMP 15733 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is UCMP 1817, Urruttia Canyon-Salt Creek, which is in a Ypresian deep-water shale in the Lodo Formation of California.
It was recombined as Varicorbula capayana by Hendy (2020).
