Taxonomy
Colpoclaenus was named by Patterson and McGrew (1962). It is not extant. Its type is Colpoclaenus keeferi.

It was assigned to Arctocyoninae by Archibald (1998); and to Arctocyonidae by Patterson and McGrew (1962), McKenna and Bell (1997), Burger (2007).
