Taxonomy
Oxyprimus was named by Van Valen (1978) [status called into question by Lofgren 1995]. It is not extant. Its type is Oxyprimus erikseni.

It was assigned to Hyopsodontidae by Van Valen (1978), Archibald (1998), Zack et al. (2005); to Eutheria by Wible et al. (2007); and to Arctocyonidae by Kielan-Jaworowska et al. (2004), Tabuce et al. (2011), Atteberry and Eberle (2021).
