Taxonomy
Palaeothentes migueli was named by Bown and Fleagle (1993). Its type specimen is MACN CH-1338, (mandibular fragment) and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is La Cantera, which is in a Rupelian terrestrial horizon in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina.
