Taxonomy
Scalpellum longissimum was named by Withers (1911). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is East Harnham (Actinocamax quadratus zone), which is in a Campanian carbonate chalk in the Upper Chalk Formation of the United Kingdom.
