Taxonomy
Scalpellum accumulatum was named by Withers (1910). Its type specimen is BMNH I.12928, an other (carina), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Folkestone, Folkestone Beds (Butler collection), which is in an Albian coastal sandstone in the Folkestone Formation of the United Kingdom.
