Taxonomy
Virgiscalpellum marysensis was named by Gale (2020). Its type specimen is NHMUK IC 1638, an other (tergum), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Sample MC2, Marys Creek, Fort Worth, which is in an Albian carbonate marl in the Goodland Formation of Texas.
