Taxonomy
Megapus guestphalicus was named by Schlüter (1868). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Baumberge (Schlüter collection), which is in a Campanian marine horizon in the Baumberge Formation of Germany.
It was recombined as Cheirothrix guestphalicus by Dietze (2009).
