Taxonomy
Ischyodus bifurcatus was named by Case (1978). Its type specimen is UM 334, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hop Brook (HBR), which is in a Campanian/Maastrichtian coastal sandstone in the Navesink Formation of New Jersey.
