Taxonomy
Eoptolamna supracretacea was named by Guinot et al. (2013). Its type specimen is NHMUK P.67075, a tooth, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Winterbourne, lower horizon, which is in a Santonian carbonate chalk in the Newhaven Chalk Formation of the United Kingdom.
