Taxonomy
Lunulites vespertilio was named by Håkansson and Voigt (1996). Its type specimen is Voigt Coll., Photocat. 6650 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Hemmoor, Sample 142 , which is in a Maastrichtian carbonate chalk in Germany.
