Taxonomy
Taoheodon baizhijuni was named by Liu (2020) [Medium-sized dicynodontoid characterized by the following autapomorphies: shallow fossa on a triangular region at the proximal side of the postorbital bar, basisphenoid contribution to the basisphenoid-basioccpital tubera slopes anterodorsally at a shallow angle, and pterygoid keel absent; also differentiated from other dicynodontoids by combination of the following characters: narrow median pterygoid plate, pterygoid not contact maxilla, occipital condyle wide and arc-like in posterior view and without circular central depression or fossa, and lateral dentary shelf thin but with distinct dorsal and ventral surfaces.]. Its type specimen is IVPP V 25335, a partial skull (an incomplete skull (preserved basal length: 105 mm, preserved maximum width: 83 mm), missing the anterior end of the snout, most of the zygomatic arch, right p), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Locality 18P5, which is in a Lopingian terrestrial horizon in the Sunjiagou Formation of China. It is the type species of Taoheodon.
