Aranciaga Rolando et al. 2021 | Abelisaurid theropod diagnosable on the basis of the following combination of characters (autapomorphies marked by an asterisk): 1) strongly thickened and heavily sculptured frontals, 2) frontals with deep longitudinal groove surrounding the supraorbital swelling*, 3) frontals with short bony platform for the contact with the nasal, 4) anteroposteriorly elongate supratemporal fenestra *, 5) parietal with posterolaterally oriented parietal alae*, 6) nuchal wedge of supraoccipital bone subequal in dorsoventral depth to the dorsoventral height of the occipital condyle*, 5) associated groove of the postemporal foramen completely enclosed by parietal and exoccipital-opisthotic bones*, 6) bony plate below the occipital condyle subrectangular in contour and dorsoventrally taller than transversely wide*, 7) forebrain with large olfactory tract and bulbs, and 8) paired laminae over the mesethmoid. |
