Taxonomy
Ceratites erasmi was named by von Mojsisovics (1882). It is not extant. Its type locality is Bad Neubrags, Pustertal, which is in an Anisian carbonate limestone in Italy. It is the type species of Ceratites (Philippites).
It was recombined as Ceratites (Philippites) erasmi by Diener (1907); it was recombined as Philippites erasmi by Spath (1934).
