Taxonomy
Apus dubius was named by Prestwich (1840). Its type specimen is GSL 54398/9, a carapace, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Coalbrook Dale (White Flatstone Measures, Prestwich collection), which is in a Westphalian B interdistributary bay mudstone in the United Kingdom.
It was recombined as Pygocephalus dubius by Schram (1979).
