Eggysodon was named by Roman (1910). It is not extant. Its type is Eggysodon osborni.
It was assigned to Hyracodontidae by Radinsky (1966), Carroll (1988); to Allaceropinae by de Bonis and Brunet (1995); to Alloceropinae by Prothero and Schoch (1989), Dashzeveg (1996); to Eggysodontinae by Bai and Wang (2012); and to Eggysodontidae by Wang et al. (2016).
